Campus Travel recently picked up the travel supplier award from the BTTB Travel Management Awards event in Sydney.
BTTB was founded in 1999 to produce conferences, exhibitions and publications for the procurement category of travel management.
Run annually, the BTTB Travel Management Awards recognise industry suppliers that best embody the concept of a 'supply chain partnership', whereby the supplier's success depends on a successful outcome from its clients.
Campus Travel's award was received on the back of two BTTB award submissions that covered the work the academic travel company had conducted to support two of its clients - The University of Adelaide and Monash University.
General Manager of Campus Travel, Lorraine Donnan, said she was thrilled to receive the award.
"The prestigious title is testament to the hard work and contribution of our travel consultants and account management teams servicing those accounts and of course, the universities themselves," Ms Donnan said.
"Both universities have large and tailored travel programs and requirements. To get the programs to where they are today, our teams of academic travel specialists have worked very closely and collaboratively with each university."
Since being appointed as The University of Adelaide's preferred travel provider late 2014, Campus Travel has been working closely with the university to help consolidate their travel program, reduce travel costs and enhance the way their employees book travel via an online booking system.
"From the go-live of the partnership in October 2014 the results have far exceeded expectations," said Jamie Dunnicliff, Strategic Procurement Transformation Manager from The University of Adelaide.
As one of two preferred travel companies for Monash University, Campus Travel provides travel advisory and booking services to more than 8,000 staff.
Campus Travel has worked collaboratively with Monash University to drive efficiency in their reservation, payment and reconciliation process.
Damon Rapke, Travel and Fleet Category Manager for Monash University said, "Campus Travel has proven to be an excellent partner in our quest to operate the most efficient and technologically advanced travel program of any tertiary institution in Australia."
Both universities were named finalists in the BTTB Travel Management Awards this year for 'Travel Program of the Year'.
Ms Donnan said the award was a culmination of a few years of dedicated work from many stakeholders within the academic travel sector.
"This is a very specialised area of travel and to achieve success with such large programs requires a proactive partnership based on trust, knowledge and willingness to change. I'm very proud of this achievement and believe it represents the progressive work by the universities in the area of travel management and procurement."
