Qantas A380 delivers more

Have you ever been inside an aircraft when there are no other passengers onboard? An empty aircraft, Qantas’ A380 in particular, is as spacious as it is truly amazing in terms of its highly structured configuration. Inside the air is still and warm, the walkways are free from dangling limbs and earphones and the galleys are neat as a pin with no loitering passengers. During a recent supplier product update day, a group of lucky Campus Travel employees were given the grand tour of the Qantas Airbus.

Since the first Qantas Airbus A380 took to the skies in 2008, this celebrated long-range aircraft has been the pride of the airline’s fleet. The superjumbo is the world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft, with its double-deck and wide body design. Recognised for its unique style, spacious and quiet cabins, the A380 delivers the ultimate in passenger comfort with signature Qantas service. The Qantas A380s have been configured to offer a range of seating options for up to 484 passengers seated within the Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class cabins.

Qantas A380 offers passengers state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment with touch screens and over 1,500 on-demand audio and video choices. While business and connectivity features include PC power, USB and internet ports and in-seat telephone with SMS functionality.

Here are just a few of the highlights across the aircraft’s different classes:

Economy

The economy seats were designed by Marc Newson and have more legroom, multi-adjustable winged headrest, lumbar support, cushioned armrests and leg rest. Plus peckish passengers can help themselves from one of the self-serve, complimentary snack bars dotted around the cabin.

Premium Economy

The Premium Economy cabin, located on the upper deck, offers even more space and comfort for around 32 passengers. These travellers enjoy wider, more comfortable seats which recline further than standard economy, plus noise cancelling headsets and an adjustable 10.6-inch touch screen.

Business Class

Business class features fully-flat skybeds on the upper deck in a 2-2-2 configuration, with a private pod-like design and privacy screen for an undisturbed night sleep.

First Class

The First Class cabin features 14 individual suites with an electronically adjustable seat and fully adjustable multi-zone massage function. The seats rotate so you can face your 17-inch TV monitor or put your feet up on the footrest. The fully flat-bed comes with a sheepskin covered foam mattress, cotton sheet, duvet, wool blanket and super soft pillows to make you feel like you are sleeping among the clouds. One word – Amazing!
